Hi guys! I'm here in Bohol Island from May 27 until the 31st. I'll be attending the 14th Grand Assembly of the Philippines and Guam, which will be held at Bohol Plaza, Panglao Island, Bohol. At the moment, I'm staying here at Tagbilaran City. And while I'm here, I'm making sure that I'd be able to survey the area for Fitness Gyms! Hehehe...so multi-purpose diay akong pag-visit dire. Not only will I be enjoying the local scene (esp. the beach stuff), but I'll also be meeting some of the finess buffs of Bohol. I'll be updating later guys kung unsa man lang akong mag-ka-engkwentro, ehehe...But for sure, there will be pics here pero later na pud kay ako pa man e-upload, ok?

The Great Fire That Consumed Axis

Dear Fitness Buffs,

Many Kagay-anons have heard about Axis Gym. It is very sad and unfortunate that I bring you the news that it was burned down when there was a great fire that started in the neighboring store (same building with Axis) last May 20, 2009 in the afternoon. I shall be posting a pic of how Axis Gym looks now...

Axis Gym, as I was informed, was one of the pioneering fitness gym in Cagayan de Oro City. It began sometime in the late 1970s and has produced many bodybuilding champs. The latest news that I've heard from their clients is that most of the gym-goers of Axis has transferred to Holeshot Gym (@ Motormate, Cogon), while some transferred to Pelaez and other neighboring gyms. One bodybuilder even told me that there were many guys who were pumping iron at the time of the incident. They could see through the window that the fire's getting really big, so they dropped their tools, grabbed their stuff and ran down the stairs...

I was able to visit Axis Gym only once to inquire about some supplements and to check out the place. The feel of the place is truly very musculine. The people are friendly and accomodating too. I'm really very sad about their loss -- all those pictures (since they began) and their winning trophies -- now turned to dust.

Mr. Mindanao-Summer Flex 2009

This is the first ever bodybuilding competition that I have witnessed in my life! I was so awed and overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the human anatomy. As an artist and a scientist, I'm totally mystified with all of that I have feasted my eyes upon. I could not seem to put everything under one basket, but folks, I could say that I was so motivated to work hard for my own narcissistic endeavors! (Yikes! hahahaa!!! Really!)

The Mr. Mindanao-Summer Flex 2009 Bodybuilding Competition was organized by the Misamis Oriental Powerlifting Association, headed by none other than, my very own fitness instructor at Pelaez Fitness Gym, Mr. Marlon Tajale. It was held at Apple Tree Hotel & Resort at Opol, Misamis Oriental. There were almost a hundred audience, but given the distance of the venue from the city proper, many were indeed sad not to be able to go there. But it's ok lang 'coz people did enjoy the rest of the evening's affairs.

Here's a brief overview of what happened that day:

  • Around 7AM, the contest organizers and some contenders were interviewed on ABS-CBN's Pamahaw Especial (a local morning TV show).
  • Then by 3PM, all of the contenders from the different gyms all over the city and neighboring cities, gathered at the beachfront of Apple Tree Resort to be briefed by the organizers & start putting on their body color. (we'll talk more on body color later)
  • By 5:30PM, people started coming in to the venue.
  • At 6PM, the show began and we all had a great time up until around 11PM.
There were 2 major categories in the said event: Novice Division and Advance Division. The Champions were Mr. Oliver (Novice Div.) and Mr. Pagang (Advance Div.) with a lot of other prizes and awards given out.

To sum it all up, it was one heck of an event to remember. It was fun, exciting, amusing and perhaps one could also say, after the dance presentation of one of the contenders, tiltillating! LOL!!! (peace yo!)

Padayun Kamo!

Hi Folks! It's me, Carmz, one of CDO's fitness enthusiasts. And I'm finally starting out a blog that's all about Fitness & Nutrition (Health, Wellness & Exercise). To some, my start-off kick might sound boring. But believe me, as we journey on, I'll bring in a lot of info about Cagayan de Oro City's fitness profile.

And yes, my dearest readers, Cagayan de Oro City has a lot to boast with regards to how fit the Kagay-anons are. We'll be checking out the different fitness centers and gyms within the city and perhaps we could compare notes later on. Later on, we'll be blushing as we witness different Fitness Competitions held here in our City of Golden Friendship. How would you like that,eh? Of course, I would be putting in a lot of pics (and videos too) to show you how wonderful it is to workout in any of CDO's gyms/fitness centers. (Ah, so many things to do with my new blog!!! ehehe...I'm excited!)

Well then, shall we begin?
